Caleb - The visionary

Yesterday's teaching on the life of Caleb spoke a lot to me :)

Caleb who was willing to receive Hebron which is not fully conquered, at the age of 85 years old and still gg strong. Michael who shared abt the 3 prophecies in his life that led him to where he is at each phase in his life.

This brought me back to the prophecies shared abt me mths ago and I can't help but be amazed at the sharpness of His words...

There are a few things prophesied over me:
* To have a Mary's heart, seeking intimacy with God daily
* Seeking a breakthrough. Vision of a narrow road. Though the path is narrow, it will be made available to me if I am willing to pay the price
* The Joy of the Lord is my strength in serving Him
* Trust in God even when things do not appear logical
* Build up my foundation, I am a lighthouse.

At that time, I rem myself thinking, " I have already been seeking God, why was this shared abt me. " I guess it was my pride at work. But it has been shown so real in recent mths when I was impacted by the woman's conference in learning how to have a mary's heart in a martha wrld and also learning to set aside retreats to seek God. And the others as well...

God knws and He really knows. I just have to follow :)

Anthony Yeo - A remarkable counsellor

Tribute to Anthony Yeo, a truly gifted counsellor

THERE is a special breed of people who toil in Singapore day after day without special mention. They are counsellors; and one of the gentlest and best of them has passed quietly into the night. His name is Mr Anthony Yeo.

I first met Mr Yeo two years ago. By then, he was already a renowned counsellor and I had referred several patients to him.

In person, he was remarkably easy-going and easy to chat with. Not once did he show any displeasure or irritation even when I disagreed vehemently with his views on certain issues. He was able, through his gentle demeanour, to demolish the brave fronts and defensive masks that his patients put up. He was able to bring up the vulnerable issues they were harbouring without making them feel threatened.

Through Mr Yeo, I came to understand that the best of counsellors do not "teach" patients what to do, they empower them to find the answers for themselves and emerge through the crisis as stronger and better people.

Through him, I came to understand that counsellors need the unique ability to truly listen to their patients and perhaps to walk in their shoes for a little while.

Through him, I came to realise that sometimes patients do not just need pills but that human touch and professional counselling to help them work out the issues.

I saw that counselling is truly a unique profession and, like doctoring, is a calling.

I saw a man who used his remarkable gifts in listening and empathising in his God-given calling. There were countless lives that he touched and many lives that he probably saved.

Singapore has lost one of its finest and best sons.

Rest in peace, Mr Yeo.

Children are a gift from God

Children Are A Gift From God
by Sandra Tolson

God sent me three packages
That needed special care
"Take care of these tiny gifts
For they are very rare."
"Watch over them with all your love
And let them feel your touch

Take care of their every need
For you are needed very much."
"These gifts will grow up very fast
As you soon will see
Love them with all your heart
And let them be what they will be."

"When these gifts have fully grown
Look at Heaven up above
Know they exist because of God
And all his precious love."

First times

The last time I blog about first times was so long ago I kinda forget the feeling...the feeling of excitement in the uncertainty and a kind of anticipation carried with a tinge of anxiety :) I like the familiar but my heart yearns for the new and unchartered as well. Kind of an irony but this is human, always at a contradictory with self haha...

Tonight I am meeting my new sheep and I am looking forward. New relationship, new sparks. I just had a new maid as well which kind of created a bit of adjustment but yep, goanna get used to it. It's going to be a new study term in a few weeks time and I sure am anxious, the seriously packed schedule. Here I come.My first personal retreat with God 2 weeks ago (it took so long). My first retreat with June to seek God. Coming soon! Excited, looking forward. First trip with CG to kukup, is it going to happen?

I want to do something new, something that I have never done before. God, may u be with me in these yearnings :) Bring the sparks in my relationship with God, people, my ministry, my work, my life. My feet standing firm in Your word while the acitivities go on...

Which carebear are you?

Funshine Bear
You are filled with unlimited energy and extremely resourceful. You like to tackle problems and tasks head-on and you gladly accept any jobs that come along the way. However, you often take on too much and your stubbornness won't allow you to accept help from others. But you're always willing to have a good time!

This entry is sparked off by Pris, who loves carebear very much...like me and in other ways as well. Which bear are u? Are u like me? Check it out and let me know :P

Family Day 2009

It was Father's Day and I spent it with my 3rd family...my colleagues, the kids and their families. Had Family Day at Hort park and the theme is family tree. Around more than 20 families turned up and we had a good time of games at the place. It was scorching hot but the children were exceptionally happy as they seldom get to spend quality time with their parents. Every moment counted. The food was great, I had the best shepherd's pie ever. I decided to make it the first dish I am going to learn how to make. I used the polaroid camera borrowed from Alexis' friend and snapped away. They were all so excited to have their family photos taken. The power of momentos! We have a tree that is bare and each family has to decorate on the leaves and paste it on the tree so that it becomes filled with leaves. It was a spectacular sight. At the end of it, I just feel so touched by the event. I can feel the hope for the families and the love exhibited by the parents in their own ways. The process may be difficult, the journey tiring and long but they are going to make it, as long as they keep trying. And yes, I am going to be one of these branches which extends myself to them to give them a lift! I love my job becos I love the children and their families. I love to see them succeed. I enjoy talking to them. I am comfortable with them. 2 more months and I will be here for 3 years...well, that's a milestone for me. God, pls carry me thr in my passion for them and use me...to touch their lives :)

This is shepherd's pie, Zhiyong wans me to bake for him on his birthday...No promises...
