The Moment of Truth

I caught the variety show, The Moment of Truth a few days back and it was painful to watch, but apparently very entertaining and amusing for many. The questions started off easy for the guy as he had to answer questions on his gambling habits which apparently his family already seemed to know and accepted him for who he is. The answer was given quickly with assurance from mom, who kept smiling at him while his father was like, "Oh, I didn't know about that." (Oh well, now you do...)

It was kind of a breeze...until the questions came about his sex life and his commitment to his girlfriend. Lotsa oohs and ahhs from the audience. When asked by the host what he liked about her, he kept saying, "She's an attractive girl. She's pretty and she's smart...". Little did she know what is to come. When the qns came, she sat there, pursing her lips. The skeletons coming out of the closet... and it appears that his best friend knew about all his secrets, including his little sister who supposedly gave him a little black book on his 16th birthday to which she exclaimed, "No! I don't remember that".

Host: So, are you an organised person?

Guy: Yea, I would say so. Yes...I am.

Host: Did you keep a spreadsheet of the number of women you had sexual relations with?

(Audience: Gasps, ooh...ahh, ohmigosh)

(friend burying face in his hand)

(girlfriend looking shocked)

Guy: (A smile on the face)Yes... It has ratings too.

...

Th truth hurts, especially when others close to you are being put on the line as well, at the expense of the relationship.

Work, Love, Dance, Sing and Live

Work as if you have no need for the money

Love as if nobody ever made you suffer

Dance as if nobody is watching you

Sing as if nobody is hearing you

Live as if the paradise were on this earth

The man in the desert

I have stopped counting. A futile effort. Some seasons just stay longer than the others. The spirit is waning, the hope depleting. Maybe some things are meant to be left that way. Like a man walking in a desert - day after day, night after night. Occassionally a mirage brings hope to the listless soul. The disappointment follows soon after. The sun continues to rise, the chilly nights remain. The man continues to walk on...

Dont lose your way

With each passing day
You've come so far
Dont throw it away

Live believing
Dreams are for weaving
Wonders are waiting to start
Live your story
Faith, hope & glory
Hold to the truth in your heart

If we hold on together
I know our dreams will never die
Dreams see us through to forever
Where clouds roll by
For you and I

When we are out there in the dark
We'll dream about the sun
In the dark we'll feel the light
Warm our hearts, everyone

Getting comfortable with discomfort

"When we are thinking small, we crave preordained outcomes. We want to know what’s going to happen before we begin. Control is an illusion. The need to know how and where prevents all progress. Outcomes are not the starting point. . . . When we seek to control it, it’s because we fear the unknown, the out of control. What we fear is reality because ultimately it can never be controlled. "

(Michael Port, The Think Big Manifesto)

The way to be comfortable with discomfort is to resist nothing and to think about our feeings. The instinctual behavior in the face of a crisis is to avoid or fight it. It takes great courage to face it squarely for what is to come. To learn to relax in the discomfort. To allow the feelings to set in. To surrender control.
